To run virtual sessions, I have used and familiar with Zoom, Webex, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. I use Mentimeter in all forms of facilitation to engage the audience.
Throughout 2020, the need for engaging virtual facilitation was thrust upon us. I introduced the use of Mentimeter into traditional instructor-led programs for AP Psychology & Consulting Services to enable the audience to continue to get an interactive experience.
Brief: Convert a full day instructor-led program into a virtual program.
Creation: The facilitation component was reduced from a full day to a 3.5 hour session. Mentimeter and Zoom break out rooms were used to re-craft skill and discussion based activities in the session. Learners also completed a 15 minute online "preLearn" prior to attending.
I contributed the following creations and solutions on this project:
Facilitation of the program
Creation of the Mentimeter and break out activities as well as the slide decks, facilitator guides and participant workbook materials
Creation of the preLearn in Articulate Rise. This was designed as an online resource rather than a course. Learners are encouraged to revisit this resource at any time.
Creation of an interactive workbook built with Adobe Creative Cloud.
My life in facilitation started when I was working in IT in the late 1990's. I was never actually that good at IT, but I had a knack of translating technical language into everyday language for end-users. So I was encouraged to get into facilitation and haven't looked back!
Throughout my time spent in the corporate world, I've been both a subject matter expert and facilitator. I love imparting knowledge and skill to my audience and I especially love seeing the audience experience that light-bulb moment.
I've been fortunate to deliver some powerful programs grounded in psychology and even more fortunate to see the impact these programs have on people's lives. I've loved delivering technical training, skills programs and working with subject matter experts to deliver their message.
When facilitating, it's important for me to know your content. It's even more important to me that the audience knows your content.
As an accredited Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® facilitator, I help teams and individuals develop a greater sense of self-awareness and awareness of others.
These sessions are great for newly formed teams and even better for established teams wanting to perform better.
Creation: It starts with a 30 minute to 1 hour session where the learners receive the self-assessment tool. It is important that this part is facilitated to ensure the context of the tool is discussed and acknowledged.
Usually a week after the tool is distributed to the learners, I facilitate a half-day experiential group session where we bring the tool to life and showcase exactly what it means to interact within your preference and with others.
Finally, a 1 hour individual coaching session can be arranged to focus on specific elements of primary, secondary and tertiary strengths.
Elements of MBTI® always find their way into all of my facilitated sessions, as I believe knowing our preferences helps us define our purpose.
